Shell Upgrade System
Push your shells beyond their limits.
The Shell Upgrade system lets you enhance individual shell options on your weapons and armor, increasing their values for a significant power boost.
What is Shell Upgrading?
Shell upgrading enhances the individual effects on a weapon's or armor's shell options. Each shell option (e.g. Enhanced Attack, Increase Damage to Monster Races) can be upgraded to increase its value by a fixed bonus per upgrade level.
Each individual shell option can only be upgraded a maximum of 2 times.
How to Access
There are two ways to open the Shell Upgrade window:
- NPC — Talk to Doctor Dimension in Dimensio's Lab. This opens the upgrade window without scroll protection.
- Shell Upgrade Scroll — Use a
Shell Upgrade Protection Scroll from your inventory. This opens the upgrade window with major failure protection enabled.
Upgrading Shells
Each upgrade attempt requires the following materials (same cost for every stage):

The results of your shell upgrades are also same across every stage:

| Major Failure | 10% | A random upgraded option loses 1 upgrade. Can be avoided by using Shell Upgrade Protection Scroll |
| Failure | 85% | Nothing happens to your shell |
If you gamble your equipment to change its shell, all of your shell upgrades will be reset to 0.
Downgrading Shells
Shell Upgrade Solvent
can be used to downgrade most recently applied shell upgrade. Useful for correcting a misplaced upgrade. The item can be purchased from the Olympus Shop.
Using prevents the removed shell option to be upgraded again on the following successful upgrade.
Shell Upgrade Reset
Using 
Shell Upgrade Purifier resets all shell upgrades to 0. Useful when you want to fully redistribute your upgrades.
The item can be purchased from Doctor Dimensio in Dimensio’s Lab, and Undercity Forge in Undercity.

Having a shell upgrade in “Undisturbed When Casting Spells” means a fixed increase of MP by 1000.

Having a shell upgrade in “Protect Mana in PvP” means a fixed increase of MP by 1000.
Limits on Shell Upgrades
Every shell option belongs to a category that determines its grade (S/B/A/C). The maximum upgrade level is derived from the highest-level shell option on the item, meaning you cannot upgrade a shell that has only B/A/C shell options to +8.
