Tattoos - Guide

Introduced in Act 7, a tattoo is a buff-like ability you cast on demand: it has a cooldown and grants powerful passives while active. Many players have never reached Act 7, so here is the whole loop at a glance:

1Buy or craft a tattoo pattern, then talk to Churisgo (hero level c30 required) and pick Receive a Tattoo to roll a random tattoo from that pattern.

2Each tattoo is an activatable ability with a cooldown that grants powerful passives. You can equip up to 2 at once and place them on your skill bar.

3Upgrade a tattoo from +0 to +9 to scale its power — but a bad roll can downgrade it a level, so protect your high tattoos.

Where to Get a Tattoo

You need hero level c30. Head to Olorun Village in Moritius and talk to the Tattoo Artist below. Choose the Shop option to find the Tattoo Design section, then Receive a Tattoo to roll one.

• Tattoo Safeguard Scroll — pre-apply it for a 1,000,000 Gold buffer against a downgrade when upgrading. Sold by Logotor.
• Tattoo Remover — removes a tattoo entirely for 5,000,000 Gold. Sold by Logotor.
• Loa Switch Crystal — rerolls into a random tattoo of any other pattern (100,000,000 Gold). Your upgrade level is kept.
• Tattoo Switch Scroll — rerolls into another tattoo of the same pattern (100,000,000 Gold). Your upgrade level is kept.
• Most upgrade materials drop from the Raid Box: Spirit King Kirollas.

There are five tattoo patterns, each holding 8 tattoos you roll at random when you Receive a Tattoo. Craft the patterns from the recipes below — the materials mostly come from the Raid Box: Spirit King Kirollas.

Upgrading Your Tattoo

Gold and materials are spent on every attempt, win or lose, and so is the protection scroll. Total gold prices the scrolls at their NPC cost, because over a long run those outweigh what the window charges — the farmed materials aren't priced.

Rows marked ★ need a rarer milestone material. A pity of n means the (n + 1)-th consecutive miss at that level is a guaranteed success — and it rescues a downgrade too, since the forced result overwrites the roll. Pity lives on the item and is bound to the account that built it, so handing a half-pitied piece to someone else wipes the counter.

From +6, always upgrade with a Safeguard Scroll

A Tattoo Safeguard Scroll is spent on every attempt and blocks the downgrade entirely, so the worst a roll can do is waste that attempt. Without one, a downgrade drops a level and wipes the pity counter — and from +6 onward a downgrade is more likely than a success, so the two effects compound and the climb never finishes. Switch Protection to No scroll above and the simulator will tell you as much: it flags the range as impractical.

Below +6 it's the opposite — downgrades are rare enough that upgrading unprotected is cheaper, since you skip the 1,000,000 gold scroll on every attempt. Save your scrolls for the push that needs them.

Your first tattoo tab upgrades 50% faster

Characters have two tattoo tabs, and each tattoo keeps its own level and pity counter per tab. The 1st tab carries a hidden relative +50% success bonus the 2nd tab does not get — enough to turn +0→+1 and +1→+2 into guaranteed successes, and to lift +8→+9 from 1% to 1.5%. If you're pushing a tattoo high, push it on the 1st tab. Use the Tattoo tab control above to compare.

Pity counter

Since 29/10/2023 tattoos have a pity counter: once you reach the pity count shown for a level, your next upgrade at that level is a guaranteed success — and because the forced result overwrites the roll, it rescues a would-be downgrade too. Using a Loa Switch Crystal or Tattoo Switch Scroll to swap your tattoo resets the pity count (your upgrade level is kept).

Rune & Tattoo Upgrade Events

The rotating Tattoo Upgrade Event raises success by a relative +30% for its 2-day run. On the hardest steps that is the difference between 1% and 1.3% — worth banking your materials for. Toggle Rate event above to see what it saves.
